Democratic Party Chairman and erstwhile 2004 presidential candidate Howard Dean made a pit stop in Santa Fe on Thursday to tell the party faithful that they must include GOP voters in their appeals.
Dean made his stop in the highly Democratic town as part of his "Register For Change Bus Tour." And he said some things that might make you think he’s walking the walk, not just talking the talk.
The Democratic campaign must work hard in areas that voted overwhelmingly for the Republican president in 2004, he said, and reach out to evangelical Christians who have supported Republicans in recent elections.
But a quick check of the Register for Change Bus Tour schedule doesn’t say anything about Dean visiting Lea County, or Roswell, or … should I go on? Uh, am I missing something? Frankly, it seems like the bus tour stayed on pretty safe Democratic ground in New Mexico. Maybe I’m wrong. And maybe I missed the entire schedule, the one that said he visited Farmington and Portales. But if I’m right, maybe Dean should spend more time walking the walk than just talking the talk.
