DENVER — Former two-term New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid finished speaking from the podium at the Democratic National Convention just a short time ago.

One of only three New Mexicans scheduled to speak to the party faithful in Denver, Madrid outlined the party platform process she helped lead in addition to stressing boilerplate Democratic themes like universal health care and comprehensive immigration reform.

At least one New Mexican on site at the Pepsi Center gave Madrid a rave review.

“I was delighted to see Patricia Madrid representing New Mexico,” University of New Mexico political scientist Christine Sierra said shortly after watching Madrid’s address from the convention’s press gallery. “She joined an illustrious lineup of other Hispanic elected officials. In that regard, she represented our state well.”
